In the fun movie, One Fine Day, Jack (George Clooney), asks Melanie (Michelle Pfeiffer), “Where do you get a bag like that?” She seems to have a Mommy wonder bag with everything from breakfast bars to vitamins. When the two desperate parents take their kids to a drop in day care and learn that it is costume day, this Mom goes in her super bag and pulls out brushes, shoulder pads and duct tape and to save the day by fashioning emergency super suits. While this movie takes a laughing at look at what might be in a super prepared Mom’s purse, what’s inside our purses is no laughing matter when a purse is stolen. Often our purses contain not only our keys, but also all of the keys to stealing our identity and opening up new accounts in our name.
Purse snatching often happens when we least expect it. Your purse can be snatched from your grocery cart as you compare the prices of apples juice, snatched from your stroller as you chase the toddler who will no longer sit it or snatched right out of your car as you wait at a red light. You can’t predict a purse snatching but there are some things you can do before and should do right away if your purse is stolen.
Things You Can Do Today to Prevent Identity Theft if Your Purse is Stolen:
1. First of all, make sure that you are no longer carrying your social security card in your wallet. Instead secure it away. Only take your card with you on those rare occasions when you know you will need to provide it.
2. Make copies of all of the cards in your wallet, including the sides with contact numbers. This would include bankcards, memberships cards such as a gym card or library as well as memberships such as Blockbuster. Secure these copies away so you’ll have an accurate list and won’t have to try to remember it all following the stress of having your purse stolen.
Steps to Take Right Away if Your Purse is Stolen
1. Contact your local police department and file a report.
2. Search the immediate area including bathroom trashcans or dumpsters. Purse thieves generally take what they want and unload the bag quickly. Even if your wallet is gone, you may get your new lipstick or your photos back.
3. Using your copied list start contacting businesses immediately. The most important thing is to make sure to move quickly and before a thief can start to damage your credit.
-Contact your bank.
-Contact credit card companies.
-Get new cards and new numbers for all memberships. Don’t let a purse-snatcher enjoy a sauna at your gym or evening of free movies on your account.
4. Get a new Driver’s License and be sure to “cancel” the old one.
5. Contact your health insurance carrier and notify them of the theft and request new information, including a new card and new identification number. Identity thieves can use your prescription drug card to feed a drug habit or use your health insurance to have medical procedures from life saving to tummy tucks or breast enhancement.
6. Change the locks on your doors to both your home and car if your keys are stolen. Remember that if they have your wallet, they have your address too. Contact the car dealership to see what changes can be made to your car locks.
7. Contact your cell phone company and inform them that your phone was stolen and ask that service be suspended. One young teen had to learn the hard way how quickly purse-snatchers can run up a $400.00 phone bill. You can reactivate your account when you get a new phone.
8. Contact the three credit reporting agencies, Experian, Equifax, and Trans Union to place a fraud alert on your credit report. You can actually only contact one and the information can be shared. Once placed companies that attempt to obtain your credit information for any reason will be notified of the possibility of fraud, if for example the purse snatcher tries to buy a car or even set up utilities using your name and credit.
9. Freeze your credit reports. By freezing your credit report no information can be provided without your permission. You can always remove the freeze. State laws vary on whether there are fees for this service and what those fees are but in general many states are making this easily affordable.
10. Lastly, it is really important to make sure you get all the report information to responding officer before the responding officer leaves. This information will be needed at each and every step along the way to protect you from identity theft, medical and credit card fraud. It can help you with your insurance claims, obtaining new documents and protecting your good name and credit. It should be the first tool that goes into your new purse.

2007 – Michelle Pfeiffer – Miss Baltimore Crabs (Hairspray movie)
Nearly every biblical film is ambitious, creating pictures to go with some of the most famous and sacred stories in the Western world. DreamWorks’ first animated film was the vision of executive producer Jeffrey Katzenberg after his ugly split from Disney, where he had been acknowledged as a key architect in that studio’s rebirth (The Little Mermaid, etc.). His first film for the company he helpe…

It’s rare that a movie captures the intensity and excitement of a live Broadway musical production while appealing to a broader movie-going audience, but the 2007 Hairspray is an energetic, powerfully moving film that does just that. A remake of the 1988 musical film Hairspray, the new Hairspray is a film adaptation of the 2002 Broadway musical and features more likeable characters than the origi…

An inspired casting gimmick, a wonderful mood, a grown-up love story–all this in The Fabulous Baker Boys, but the only thing anybody ever talks about is Michelle Pfeiffer on top of a piano. Granted, it’s a showstopper: clad in a slinky dress, Pfeiffer rolls around on the Steinway while she purrs out a languid version of “Makin’ Whoopee.” Adding to the seductive vibe is the fact that she’s n…
Jack Nicholson was born to play the devil, and in George Miller’s adaptation of John Updike’s novel he plays it for all he’s worth. As a wolfish womanizer summoned by three bored women in a picturesque New England town, he’s sating all of his appetites with a rakish grin. Cher, Susan Sarandon, and Michelle Pfeiffer play the women who discover their untapped magical powers by accident. The smart an…

Throughout the world, fairies have always been the symbol of beauty, magic, romance and luck. There are very few countries in the world where there isn’t a story or two about some kind of fey-like creature. While some fairies are relatively unknown and their names have never hit the headlines, here are three of the most famous fairies of all time.
With the Upturned Nose & Twinkly Toes: Tinkerbell
Who has not heard of Tinkerbell, the “spritely” little fairy from the movie Peter Pan? Literally one of the quietest fairies of them all, she is also the most famous of them all. Thoughts of Tinkerbell conjure up images of magical fairy dust accompanied by the magical sound of tinkling bells. Her penchant for getting herself into trouble is legendary.
What would Wendy, John and Michael have done without that magical fairy dust that made their dreams of adventure come true?
Walt Disney, the creator of Tinkerbell was a man of magic; so much so one wonders if he himself wasn’t some kind of fairy disguised in mortal wrappings. His movie “Peter Pan”, based on the story of the boy that never grew up just wouldn’t be the same without this precocious tiny little fairy with all the big personality. Tinkerbell may not be a historical fairy, but she sure is a famous one. She is the one all little girls look for when they are in need of some of that magical fairy dust.
The Queen of Fairies: Titania
Titania, the Queen of the Fairies, was created in the mind of William Shakespeare. As Queen of the Fey in his work A Midsummer Night’s Dream, she was beautiful, powerful, jealous and cunning. Shakespeare “birthed” Titania after reading a book about the Titans, brothers and sisters of the Greek god, Zeus.
Since her first appearance, Titania has become the symbol for women everywhere who love to have a good quarrel with their husbands. Titania isn’t just known for her role in Shakespeare’s work, she has also made debuts in the American animated television show “Gargoyles” and the motion picture, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, with none less than the gorgeous Michelle Pfeiffer playing Titania.
An Irish Legend: Aoibheal
In Irish legend, fairies are as old as the land itself. Children of the goddess Diana or the Tuatha di Daanan, they are the very breath and life of the Emerald Isle. Fairies are rumored to live among the people within hills known as Fairy Mounds. Every mound or kingdom has a king and a queen. One particular mound north of Munster is ruled by the beautiful and famous Queen Aoibheal (pronounced Ah’veel). As legend goes, Aoibheal foreknew the outcome of a vicious battle at Clontarf and tried to warn her people about it.
In more popular media, Queen Aoibheal is a key character in the Highlander series of books by author Karen Marie Moning. Here, she is depicted as a beautiful, ancient, powerful and vain queen that does all she can to uphold the treaty between the races; mortal man and immortal fey. Although she has a king, she would rather dally with her super hunky jester, Adam Black.
Fairies inspire flights of fancy and dreams of dashing adventures. Historical or not, fairies have a very important part in the culture of today. Without fairies, where would Peter Pan be? Without fairies, where would every little girl be?
Hedgepig.co.uk offers a range of fairy gifts including flower fairies, night fairies and many more fairy figurine ranges and from top studios.
MICHELLE PFEIFFER and the Curse of the Dragon Queen
What fun! This soundtrack of the film adaptation of the Broadway musical overflows with glossy, ol’ fashioned ’60s-style pep. It won’t win any awards for innovation, but it may well be one of the most feel-good releases of the year. While not quite as super-energetic as the original Broadway cast, the new crew ain’t too shabby: Nikki Blonsky delivers as Tracy Turnblad and Zac Efron (High School Mu…

Born February 27, 1981, Josh Groban was an acting student at Carnegie Mellon University when he was offered a recording contract by Warner Brothers Records. His high school years were a combination of general studies mixed with arts training. Mentored by Grammy-winning, producer and director, David Foster, Groban tasted the music business with turns at the 1999 Grammy’s and the 1999 Governor of California Inauguration.
Groban’s first album, produced by Foster, was largely classically influenced. He worked with Sarah Brightman in 2000 on her La Luna Tour and was featured on her La Luna Concert DVD. Groban made some of his first national showings by appearing in many benefit performances. He appeared with such greats as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Don Henley and Robin Williams in the Andre Agassi Grand Slam Event For Children, and in honoring Michael J. Fox at the Muhammad Ali Fight Night Foundation event. He also appeared in the 2001 Family Celebration hosted by President Bill and Hillary Clinton and producer/director David E. Kelley and actress Michelle Pfeiffer.
Groban’s 2001 work with David E. Kelley led to a performance on the season finale of Ally McBeal and a role in the 2001/2002 Ally McBeal season. His 2001 self-titled debut album went double platinum within a year of its release. Since his debut, Groban has been busy in the music industry. He performed with Charlotte Church at the 2002 Winter Olympics, with Sissel Kyrkjebo at the Oslo, Norway Nobel Peace Price Concert, and in 2003 at the Vatican for a Christmas performance with music masters Lionel Ritchie and Sting. He has also performed with Celine Dion, Nick Carter, Yolanda Adams, Enrique Iglesias, and Barbara Streisand. Groban released his second album in 2003 entitled Closer and his third, Awake, in 2006. Groban continues to have a strong presence on the Billboard charts and appeals to a wide market.
