Cult movies are popular among a limited fan base. They offer some unorthodox narrative or tale. They appeal to a small group of people who have matching choice with the topic. This small fan base become devoted to the film. Repeated viewing on longer periods make the film reaches this status.

Famous films in this class include The Warriors, A Clockwork Orange, Eraserhead, The Gods Must Be Crazy, The Evil Dead and sequels, Blue Velvet, Angel Heart, Heavy metal, and Pink Floyd The Wall. They are known as cult movies classics.

Some funny movies have also achieved the cult status. They include Snakes on a Plane, The Toxic Avengers, Heathers, Bad Taste, Ghost World, Army of Darkness, Blackladder and Monty Python series of films.

Blade Runner is a fantasy science fiction film directed by the famous Ridley Scott. It included major star cast like Harrison Ford. It did not fare well on the box office. When it was released on video cassettes, the film became success with repeated screenings on popular channels.

Brazil is another such cult classic example. It is also a science fiction cinema. It had failed on the main release. But it became successful after its home video release. It enjoys the status of being critically acclaimed film.

Angel Heart is a mystery horror film directed by Alan Parker. Robert De Niro and Micky Rourke are the leading star cast. It failed at the box office. The film became a hit and a cult classic after it was released on video cassettes.

All the above VHS movies made each respective film a hit and popular. They are enjoying the status of cult classics with repeated viewings over a long period of time.

Born February 27, 1981, Josh Groban was an acting student at Carnegie Mellon University when he was offered a recording contract by Warner Brothers Records. His high school years were a combination of general studies mixed with arts training. Mentored by Grammy-winning, producer and director, David Foster, Groban tasted the music business with turns at the 1999 Grammy’s and the 1999 Governor of California Inauguration.

Groban’s first album, produced by Foster, was largely classically influenced. He worked with Sarah Brightman in 2000 on her La Luna Tour and was featured on her La Luna Concert DVD. Groban made some of his first national showings by appearing in many benefit performances. He appeared with such greats as Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Don Henley and Robin Williams in the Andre Agassi Grand Slam Event For Children, and in honoring Michael J. Groban’s 2001 work with David E. Kelley led to a performance on the season finale of Ally McBeal and a role in the 2001/2002 Ally McBeal season. His 2001 self-titled debut album went double platinum within a year of its release. Since his debut, Groban has been busy in the music industry. He performed with Charlotte Church at the 2002 Winter Olympics, with Sissel Kyrkjebo at the Oslo, Norway Nobel Peace Price Concert, and in 2003 at the Vatican for a Christmas performance with music masters Lionel Ritchie and Sting. He has also performed with Celine Dion, Nick Carter, Yolanda Adams, Enrique Iglesias, and Barbara Streisand. Groban released his second album in 2003 entitled Closer and his third, Awake, in 2006. A good well publicised movie can really have an impact on the location’s tourist industry – and the news that Penelope Cruz had arrived in Lanzarote to film for two weeks was greeted enthusiastically by the Lanzarote holidays industry.

And their enthusiasm is well placed, as they have seen another European holiday island – Malta – benefit from having its locations featured on the big screen, and the Greek island of Kefalonia was made famous by the 2001 film ‘Captain Corelli’s Mandolin’ – and Penelope Cruz was the leading actress in that film, with Nicholas Cage co-starring.

Troy, 2004’s blockbuster hit starring Brad Pitt and Orlando Bloom, introduced the world to Malta. Most of Troy was filmed at Fort Ricasoli. The massive fort was built by the Knights of Malta sometime between 1670 and 1693. Many people around the world would have never had the opportunity to see Fort Ricasoli if producers had decided to use props in a studio.

A Different Loyalty, starring Sharon Stone was shot in Fort St. Elmo in Valletta, Malta in 2004. Fort Saint Elmo divides Marsamxett Harbor and Grand Harbor and provides a grand entrance to both harbors. The fort doubled for the city of Beirut in the movie. The Golden Sands Beach was also chosen as a setting for parts of the movie.

Alexander, starring Colin Farrell, Anthony Hopkins and Angelina Jolie and directed by Oliver Stone included shots from Valletta’s Grand Harbor. Grand Harbor is a natural harbor that has been used at least since the Roman times. The harbor doubled as part of the ancient port city of Alexandria in the movie.

The 1995 pirate movie, Cutthroat Island, with Geena Davis and Matthew Modine was filmed primarily in Vittoriosa. The Maritime Museum is seen multiple times in the film. Mdina, Fort St. Elmo and the Dingli Cliffs were also settings for scenes in the movie. Water tanks were provided by The Mediterranean Film Studio for use in the sea scenes.

A nighttime scene from Gladiator with Russell Crowe was filmed at Couvre Port just outside Vittoriosa. The remainder of the film was primarily shot at a replica of the Roman Coliseum. The replica was built at Fort Ricasoli on Malta.

And Lanzarote could perhaps replicated Malta’s success as it is similar in some ways, but has a different landscape.

Lanzarote, at 37 miles long and 12 miles wide, has much to offer visitors of all ages. Due to the location of the island and volcanic eruptions as recent as the 19th century, people often describe parts of the island as lunar. Some say it gives them the feeling of being in another world – ideal for some films!

Families with small children find this an exciting way to teach their children about the planets and how each area of a planet can differ from others.

The wonderful climate throughout the year is conducive to a variety of sports activities. Take your pick of golf, diving, horseback riding, tennis and windsurfing. And the weather could, like the landscape, help sway decision makers that Lanzarote could be an ideal island for making films.

As for getting to Lanzarote for the stars, Lanzarote is home to more than 100,000 people and has its own international airport.

I get a lot of enjoyment from collecting all kinds of action figures including a little collection of Indiana Jones action figures. It goes without saying that, you gotta have at least one Indiana Jones action figure for a collection based on that character. I love to study up on the background of the action figures I collect, so here is a brief account of the Indiana Jones story…

Doctor Henry Walton Jones (also called “Indiana”) is a fictitious adventurer, professor of archeology, OSS agent, in addition to being the main character from the Indiana Jones media franchise. George Lucas dreamt up the fictitious personality in devotion to the action roles from the Nineteen Thirties film series. The fictitious character first came along in the 80s motion picture Raiders of the Lost Ark, to be followed by Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom also from the 1980s. Additional motion pictures following were The Last Crusade, The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, & Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Furthermore the many better regognized motion pictures & TV shows, videogames, comic books, novels, Indiana Jones action figures, and other media similarly have him. Indiana Jones is also included in the theme park ride referred to as Indiana Jones Adventure, that is in comparable forms in Disney.

The Indiana Personality is largely well known as played by Harrison Ford. He’s additionally been played by River Phoenix as the young Indiana in The Last Crusade, plus by Corey Carrier within the TV serial The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. Doug Lee has done Indiana’s voice to a pair of Lucas Arts video games, plus David Esch added the voice to Indiana Jones & the Emperor’s Tomb.

People have split Jones into possessing the personality of a super hero, a treasure hunter, a man on a mission, a lone wolf, a hardend detective all wrapped up in a single mortal man..

Like varied roles in Spielberg’s films, the character has some autobiographical characteristics from Spielberg’s life. Jones doesn’t have a real father figure because of the man’s distorted family relationship with his father, Henry Sr.. his anger is misguided at the likes of Professor Abner Ravenwood who’s Jones adviser at the Chicago University. The teen Jones found his own style on a person fromthe Last Crusade introduction, once getting his fedora. In the Temple of Doom, the the character becomes the dad during a transient family with Short Round & Willie Scott. the character is rescued from the Kali from the loyalty of Short Round. Jones also saves various kids from being slaves.

There is so much to the Indiana Jones tale. Too much for this one article. Stareing at a Indiana Jones action figure, I can understand he has seen a heap of action in his time. Indiana Jones action figures are a nice collectible as a result of of the long cavernous saga of the character.
