The Toyota Motor Corporation and its brands Toyota and Lexus have just most recently joined the Green Team. No, this is not a basketball team or a football team or even a cheering squad. The Green Team is actually just anybody who has the knack for helping out keep the environment clean and healthy.
For the Environmental Media Awards, the two brands, Toyota and Lexus, would be serving as sponsors. No, not of new vehicles to awardees or of Toyota car accessories to the recognized groups, but as groups who would be also recognizing those individual or groups who were able to help out the environment.
The whole Environmental Media Awards occasion has been planned to be a gala event. Not only would be environmentalists and other people concerned about the environment would be there, but stars who also do care about nature would be attending. In fact, the prime reason for this event is to give the right amount of recognition to those creative teams who do their best and who work behind productions for television, music, film, and other broadcast media. Of course, these productions are those that have been able to develop and raise the awareness of the public with regards to issues on the environment. And according to the history of the Environmental Media Awards, some of the awardees in years back include stars like Cameron Diaz, Daryl Hannah, and Edward Norton. Even programs like Lilo & Stitch, The Simpsons and Grey’s Anatomy have been recognized for their efforts.
On this, Toyota Motor Sales’ USA arm senior vice president and chief head honcho, Dian Ogilvie, says, “Entertainment is a potent vehicle for raising awareness of environmental isues. The creative teams who are honored with an Environmental Media Award are inspiring people to think and act in ways that benefit our planet.”
As an auto manufacturer, Toyota also has its own share of helping out the planet. One of these is to actually build and sell vehicles that make use of hybrid technology. Many of the brands’ hybrid vehicles are very much popular and sought after by the market.

Heck has been described as a ‘post-feminist’ because of her confrontational representation of the female body. Reminiscent of Rita Ackerman’s portraits of corrupted innocence and Franz West’s innuendo laden collages, Heck’s monumental sized paintings draw from both personal experience and popular culture, creating a heightened sense of drama or glamour from the everyday. Often depicting herself and people she knows, her works operate as theatres of fantasy projection, using the diversity of painting as a means to engage with the potential of imagination.

These are presented in photo or video form, set in theatrical surroundings (“I regret-Ich Bedauerlich”, Heia Bube drueckt mich”). For the artist, Hitchcock also stands as symbol for the investigation into a reality where we are inevitably drawn, like it or not. The photographs are further worked with acrylic-markers and paint which add text to accompany the image and provide a pertinent message of sorts. The paintings, often in large format, are a compilation of classically painted human bodies and lines, flecks and texts, seemingly hurled upon the canvas. The spontaneity emerges in the confrontation between the overall composition with the perfectly painted bodies. Humour and Seriousness, and the translation of this body of ideas into an art of wholly masterful expression, is the foundation stone for the power emanating from Katie Heck’s work
